Spatial and temporal evolution of olive cultivation due to pest attack, using remote sensing and satellite image processing

Climate change, as well the appearance of pests and diseases, are affecting olive plantations (Olea europaea L.) production olives in world, therefore, there is an urgent need for tools to help us identify spatial temporal evolution groves, regarding attack pests, this case, Orthezia olivicola borer Phloeotribus scarabaeoides. In work, we use information from freely available satellite images that allowed carry out analysis combination vegetation indices. For studied area, according values NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index), it was identified surface diseased plants ranges 42% 68%, moderately healthy 2% 18%, state plantation considered very with a tendency zero, which means practically 100% trees affected by some level. The variation NDVI, DVI, SAVI, GNDVI, EVI2, MSAVI indices, establish states affectation mild, moderate pest attack, severity added water deficit, strong permanent wilting.
